Marooned

out of the murky sea
onto illusive ground
without refuge

furtive as an insect
seeking the recesses
of jumbled rock

the midday sun unveils
the jaggedness of
a wizening oasis

born of frustration
like a child confronted
with intractability

looking for
culminations that
erode the beachhead

perpetually lapping
the enduring sand
