The absence of light

In its magnificent solitude
after eternity had passed
the eye of god inhaled
and breathed out creation.

A pinpoint beam becomes
a supernova - shapes emerge;
shadow against shadow.
Stifling air conducts furtive music.

Tangled inside my longing,
swallowed by the gaping silence;
unable to sense the formlessness -
the massive emptiness.

Nothing to contemplate except
the mind’s perception of nothingness.
Lost to me - childhood dreams
of splendor; broken-down and faded.

Tentative motions search
for the footprint of memory.
Stillness weaves around the edges -
its tapestry unfolding.

Singing to the vastness of
a diamond-strung cave;
the earth’s vibrato deepens,
its engulfing yawn spreads.

The immensity embraced;
surrendered to - accepted.
Proceeding apart from doubt,
acquiescent to fate.
