Restless Night

A rough drift upon oblivion
tossed within cavernous longings
and wakened to a sky of billows;
suspended breaths exhaled by the dawn.

Days stretch on, forming a relentless highway;
surrounded by spacious lands I cannot touch.
Scripted to a solitary dance in brief motion,
shuffling between here and now and then.

Somewhere along the way, notions default,
leaving me roadside-stranded with the litter.
Sore-footed and bruised and blistered,
I hobble toward a horizon's mirages.
